There are currently 10 million blind citizens in the United States; 1.3 million of them are legally blind. James Dolan never considered the possibility that he would be among them.
Fifteen seconds is all it took to forever change the lives of the Dolan Family. November 18, 2004 started out like every other day for James. It was approaching closing time at his job when the unthinkable happened. A deranged man with a gun walked into the Radio Shack where James was working and opened fire. In the end three people were dead, including the gunman, and James had been shot in the head. Miraculously, he survived, but without his eyesight.
You would expect that a young father of three would be angry that he was the victim of such a heinous crime; however, James Dolan is not, he is thankful. He is thankful that he is alive and able to be with his wife and children every day.
Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and Lexington Homes, Inc. will provide the Dolan family not only with the home of their dreams, but with a home that will be spacious and navigation-friendly for James.
